Sponsorship FAQ's

|
By becoming a child sponsor, you can make a lasting difference for not only one child, but also for his and her brothers and sisters at the Marsh Children's Home by providing access to basic necessities. Here are some frequently asked questions about child sponsorship: |
Q: What is child sponsorship and how does it work? |
A: As a sponsor, you will be connected to one special child who will know your name, write to you, and experience your care in tangible ways. And you will help change the life of your sponsored child by enabling him or her to better themselves with a proper education and have a home where they are cared for. The caring commitment of sponsors like you allows the Marsh Children's Home to care for and provide basic necessities like food on the table, clothing, health care, school supplies, education, and hope for a better future, to grow out of poverty and help their own. |
Q: Do my donations go directly to my sponsored child? |
A: The Marsh Children's Home knows that the best way to protect a child from a life of poverty and abuse is to give care, love and understanding. Also important is to give responsibilities and discipline to overcome the greatest challenges of growth. To be able to do this, they combine your gifts along with the gifts and donations of others to cover the daily expenses of the Marsh Children's Home, such as food, medicines, electricity, water, gasoline and diesel for the vehicles, school supplies and uniforms and a myriad of expenses directly related to operating the home, which is basically the children's home. Most of our children have no other home. Nearly 100% of your donations go to the benefit of the children. Board of Director Members do not receive a salary or any kind of compensation. |
Q: Is Marsh Children's Home financially responsible with my sponsorship gifts? |
A: Absolutely! The Marsh Children's Home's proven commitment to stewardship has earned the trust of hundreds of donors like retired U.S. citizens, locals, local artists, church groups, hotels and chain markets. Nearly 100% of your financial donations and sponsorship monies go to running the day-to-day operations of Hogar Infantil Marsh. Your financial support pays for food and clothing for the children; school uniforms and books; gas for cooking, electricity, and gasoline for our truck and school bus. Your donations are vital to helping us care for and educate over 80 children. |
Q: Can I choose a specific child to sponsor? |
A: At this time, we do not have the resources to feature every child at the Marsh Home. In addition, some of the children come into the Marsh Home for a short while and return to their parents or relatives once they are able to provide proper care for them. We are currently looking into the possibility of adding a "Featured Children" section to our website and will update our audience if and when we decide to allow our Sponsors to choose a specific child. Your Sponsorship dollars go into a general fund to cover our basic operating costs and to feed, cloth and care for 80+ children per day. |
Q: Can I visit my sponsored child? |
A: When you come to Acapulco, plan a visit to meet your sponsored child. We have installations to receive guests (for a nominal charge) or stay at the hotel of your choice and come and spend the day at the Marsh Children's Home which is right on the beach. Give some joy and love by spending time with the children. That is all that they really want - people who care! We would love to have you visit us! |
Q: How does sponsorship show God's love to a child? |
A: The Marsh Children's Home desires that every child experience the unconditional love that comes from God. The expression of this love is woven throughout the words, actions, and relationships of The Marsh Children's Home's staff trained by Mamá Jovita the director of this Institution. The Marsh Children's Home supports biblical teachings giving the children a background of responsibility, duty, discipline and care and love towards their brothers and sisters that even if they are not blood related they are all considered as such at the Marsh Children's Home. |
Q: Can I be a volunteer at the Marsh Children's Home? |
A: We often have volunteers that come help the kids out with computer lessons, music, and singing, games and Bible study. We have nice air conditioned rooms available at a minor fee for hard working, serious volunteers. |
Q: How can I send books or other material to Acapulco, Mexico? |
