Providing A Loving Home For Children

los niños

The children at Marsh Children’s Home Acapulco (Marsh Children’s Home) are very special boys and girls. They are filled with joy and happiness from the love and care they receive from Mamá Jovita, her son César, and the rest of the staff at Marsh Children’s Home. One visit to the Marsh Children’s Home will change your life!

This is the most important section of our new website. Everything we do - the time, the money, and the resources that we donate - we do for the love of the children. Many of these children have had a rough life before coming to Marsh Children’s Home coming from abusive families, homes without enough to eat, or simply being abandoned. Think of how blessed you have been in your life, and you will instantly want to Join Us!

Please take a moment to read our philosophies about Child Development, our concerns about Health Issues for children, our policies for Child Protection, and the wonderful success stories of Our Graduates.  Watch Our Movie at the bottom of the About Us page to see one of our graduates describe his success.  He is in his last year of college to become a lawyer.

God bless you, and thank you in advance for your support!

About the Children

The children at the Marsh Children’s Home want to be like other kids. They want to study and to better themselves. They have the right to a dignified life - a right to receive love, protection, nourishment, medicines, clothing, and an education.

With your help, we can make all this possible. At the Marsh Children’s Home, the children follow a simple schedule. They get up at 6 a.m., make their beds, clean their rooms and patios, and then have breakfast at 7 a.m. At each table in the dining room, one of the children is designated captain. The children attend public school and have chores after school.

Child Development

Half of the world's poorest people are children, and there are more babies born into poverty than ever before. Despite major advances in medicine, science, and technology, one out of four babies is born into extreme food poverty and adverse conditions.

Marsh Children’s Home understands that poverty is a complex problem and has years of experience in identifying and helping abused, neglected, and abandoned children by developing models of intervention and alleviating child poverty, vulnerability, and deprivation.

Child Protection

Child protection is one of the primary goals of Marsh Children’s Home. Many of the children have come from abusive family settings. It is our goal to provide them with a safe alternative. We make every effort to ensure that the children live in a safe and protected environment. The children are always under adult supervision, whether on the way to school or attending a weekend outing.

Health Issues

Medical: Our primary health needs are for the youngest children at Marsh Children’s Home. Many arrive at the Home with parasites; some are anemic and suffer from malnutrition. Upon arrival, we give all children vitamins, haircuts, medicines for parasites and amoebas, and a general checkup by a local physician. Children with more serious health issues or illnesses are brought immediately to the local doctor.

Our Graduates

Upon graduating from high school, many of the children from Marsh Home return to their hometowns to visit with relatives.  Some search for jobs in and around Acapulco. Some of our graduates go on to college with the assistance of scholarships funded by generous people like you!

By providing the children with a safe home in a loving environment, along with a proper education and computer skills, the children at the Marsh Children’s Home have been given a big boost.

Job Placement

Achievement is one of the Four Principles at Marsh Children’s Home.  All the children at Marsh Home attend school and are expected to keep up with their homework in the evenings after completing their afternoon chores. The children are taught the value of a good education and the importance of studying hard in order to create a better life for themselves.

Job Placement is one of the most important of the services that we provide to Our Graduates. We believe it is essential that they enter the workplace directly after graduation, unless they are continuing their education.
